Katherine Albers
Katherine's first full-length play was produced in Grimsby in 2003, but since that time her emphasis has been mainly on one-act plays. She was a playwright for 14 years for the Lincoln Rotary Lamplighter Tour, for which she has also acted and directed. She had plays accepted into the HamilTEN Festival in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019 and her full-length play Taking Flight was workshopped and read at Essential Collective Theatre's Wine and Reading series in 2018. She has also worked in various capacities for a chancel drama group, youth puppets and Firehall Theatre in Niagara Falls. She is a member of the Playwrights Guild of Canada. Renée Baillargeon, member emeritus Renée Baillargeon is a professional Equity performer, director, choreographer and playwright from St. Catharines, who has worked across Canada from Kaleidoscope Theatre and the Victoria Symphony to the Grenfel Players of Newfoundland. Since 1980 she has written over 20 plays. Renée has been the President at Playwrights Niagara, since 2012. Most recently, her play Paunch and Jeudi was produced as CFUV’s (Victoria B.C.) first 60 minute radio drama and last summer her short play First 100 days was produced at the Midtown International Theatre Festival in New York City. In March 2018 her play Choices was workshopped at Theatre One in Nanaimo British Columbia as part of the emerging voices series and in June it was part of the four play festival at South Simcoe Theatre. Maryjane Cruise MJ Cruise is an award winning published playwright and composer. Her plays have been performed across Canada, the United States and Germany. She was born in Welland, Ontario and graduated from Brock University and lives in St. Catharines. Her plays include: On Albert Street , In My Life, Dried Flowers, Separate Beds and A Stranger In our House. Sheila Laundry Sheila has had several historical plays produced as part of the Lincoln Rotary Lamplighter Tour (lamplightertour.com) and in 2006 co-authored "The Price of Eggs", a Niagara Poetry anthology. |
Meredith Short
Meredith Short is a Niagara based playwright, teacher and former professional actor. In her capacity as a drama teacher at South Lincoln High School, Meredith wrote several award winning plays for young audiences including Stuck, Coming Home, Wildebeest, Pages, Moments In Love and Tammy Sue Goes To The Prom. Meredith's play, Like It Is, was workshopped and read at Essential Collective Theatre's Wine and Reading in 2013. Meredith is currently a member of Theatre Aquarius's Playwright Unit. Her most current work is a comedy for five women entitled Momma's Precious Purses. Meredith lives in Vineland with her husband, her two very busy children and a constantly shedding Golden Retriever. Ann Snead Ann is a St. Catharines playwright. Her plays include The Jigsaw Puzzle, Choices, (winner of the one-act category of the Canadian National Playwriting Competition), A Touch of Beauty, Room for Rent and An Ordinary Guy (anthologized in Long Story Short by Playwrights Canada Press). Her work has been produced by Theatre Aquarius, the InspiraTO Festival, Regina Little Theatre and Theatre Beyond Words. In 2015/16 she was part of the Emmanuel Fried New play Workshop at Road Less Traveled Theatre in Buffalo, New York. Ann studied playwriting with Nika Rylski at George Brown College in Toronto.
